|
Friday, 25 May 2001
Frederik Willem De Klerk, Nobel Peace Prize Laureate and former President of South Africa, and Edzard Reuter, long-standing Chairman of the Board of Management of Daimler Benz, will meet face to face. In a podium discussion to be held in the Grosser Sendesaal of the ORF Radiokulturhaus, to which the general public are invited, they will discuss questions of economic policy. On this occasion, Frederik Willem De Klerk will make a resumé of his term of office as a politician in South Africa and give his views on South Africa's perspectives in the world of the future. For more information on his Foundation and projects see www.fwdklerk.org.za. Edzard Reuter will comment on German policies, with particular emphasis on former East Germany, and on the role of the economy in the globalisation process, with special reference to Germany. Based on their different experiences, the two speakers will discuss future action to be taken in the field of economic policy, with a view to endorsing a culture of peace.
This Workshop, led by Frederik Willem De Klerk and Edzard Reuter, will review in depth the topics treated at the podium discussions held on 25 May 2001. The subjects of "globalisation" and "turbo capitalism", which formed the mainstay of the Davos discussions, will also be addressed. Frederik Willem De Klerk and Edzard Reuter will focus special attention on individual questions and issues raised by the participants. This Workshop will thus offer participants the unique opportunity, within the framework of the general theme, of addressing questions of personal interest, topical issues and the specific challenges and tasks that confront companies today.
